Last night, Year 4 pupils camped over at school. It was lovely to feel a sense of normality and I was incredibly proud of the behaviour that was displayed. All of the children had a fabulous time and thoroughly enjoyed all of the activities.

Den BuildingΒ

When the children arrived at school, they were split into their house teams and provided with a piece of tarpaulin and some rope. Each team was set the challenge to create a den in the environmental area that all of their team could sit under and eat their tea. After a slow start, all of the teams created their dens with some even creating furniture and swings!

Time to cook!Β

The next challenge was to cook the beans and spaghetti to have with the burgers and sausages for tea. Mr Cockcroft demonstrated how to insert the gas cannister into the hobs and the children then set off in their groups to set up their own hobs and cook either beans or spaghetti. All of the children had listened carefully and set up their stoves safely. Once the beans and spaghetti was cooked the children then ate in their dens.

Team ChallengesΒ

Water TowerΒ

This was by far the most favoured challenge (by both the children and staff!) The challenge was to cover all the holes in the water tower so that when the water was poured into the tower it would stay in and the ball would float to the top. It proved very challenging, but lots of fun and there were lots of soggy feet!

Plastic tubesΒ

For this challenge, each group had to get the tennis ball from one side of the playground to the other using the tubes. The key for this challenge was communication and it proved to be tricky at times!

Wooden PlanksΒ

Shark infested water all around…how were they going to survive? Using the wooden planks, the challenge was to get each team member from one side of the playground to the other. All groups did a great job and communicated well in their teams.

Flint and SteelΒ

To have a true camping experience, each of the children had a go at creating a fire with a flint and steel. They had to strike a sharp edge of theΒ flint with the high carbonΒ steel to create a spark and then try to use this to set the cotton wool alight. Although not all of the children were successful in lighting the cotton wool, they all tried very hard and all managed to create sparks.

Toasting marshmallowsΒ

No sleepover would be complete without toasting marshmallows and this was the final activity of the evening.

BedtimeΒ

After an exhausting evening filled with activities, it was finally time for bed. After some popcorn and part of a film all the children settled down to sleep. I am really impressed at how well behaved they were at bedtime and all settled down quickly to sleep.

Morning!Β

Some very tired, but happy faces this morning!

A brilliant evening and they all did themselves very proud. Well done Year 4! 😊

That looks so fun! I wish I had been able to do that when I was in year 3!

I was nervous at the start because I thought I wouldn’t sleep and then as soon as I got in the hall I was confident straight away. It was the best sleepover ever! We made a zip line in our den and we got wet by trying to get a ball to the top of this long plastic tube with holes in and water coming out while Mrs Wallsworth was pouring water all over our heads. We cooked beans and at night we toasted marshmallows and put biscuits on them. When we went bed we had some popcorn and watched a film and went to sleep.

For this Year 4 sleepover I was a bit nervous but is was fun. We got to build dens with tarpaulin and ropes. We went into groups and in my group there was Lacey S, Lacey C, Demarae, Ena and Lucas M. We made beans and spaghetti on a burner and we had a burger and sausages aswell. We lit a cotton pad on fire with flint and steel. We played basketball and held tubes and tried to get a tennis ball to the other side of the playground. Every time the tennis ball went down it we had to move our tubes to the other side so the tennis ball didn’t fall ooff. We also had two wooden logs and had to get our team across the playground. The last activity was getting wet! We had a pipe and Mrs Wallsworth poured water down it and it had holes in it and we had to cover it up with our body. We got very wet! At the end we roasted marshmallows, it was all so fun!

At first I was really nervous for a sleepover at school with all my friends but now I have done to it, I’ve had the best time ever. There is lots of really fun activities my favourite is the water tower definitely! The girls slept in the hall while the boys slept in yr 3. On Friday you don’t do any work because you will be tired from all of the activities you did on Thursday. On Tursday night all the girls went into the hall with their sleeping bags and watched a movie with popcorn!

I was really nervous at first and then when we were making out dens, I was excited. I was so excited to do the water challenge and it was so fun. After we finished the team challenges we went learn to make fires and had to try to set a fire to the cotton pad and then after we went to play. Next we went inside and watched a movie before bed with popcorn. Finally we went to bed. I really enjoyed the activities and the popcorn .

I was nervous at first but when we did den building and the water activity I was really enjoying myself. I loved my group we all did things fairly and took turns to sort the burgers and baked beans. When we woke up everyone was tired, I enjoyed the sleepover .

I loved this, it’s been the best day of my life!!! Loved every little bit. It was absolutely amazing.
My team comet made a swing while others made other swings and really cool things to play with.

The activities were amazing. We were even allowed to cook on burners (don’t worry it was supervised). There was den building amazing it was very fun and challenging because we were only allowed some rope and tarpaulin. Then basketball which was super fun up next there was a wooden plank which you had to pass along without touching the floor. Then a pipe you had to travel very far with and keep a tennis ball on and if it touches the floor you have to go to the start. We toasted marshmallows and made a marshmallow sandwich with digestives for the sandwich base. We also got to use a flint and steel to set cotton wool on fire and last but not least the water challenge. There was a tube with holes and you had to cover them with your body so you get very wet.

I was very very extremely worried but as soon as I got there I went from feeling very worried and anxious to the most happy and excited person on the planet! Make sure you go if you get the chance. On the way there πŸ™ there πŸ™‚ when the activities came πŸ˜€

Last night was great! It was quite frightening at first but when I entered the hall it all became exciting. Whilst we were waiting for everyone to arrive most of us gathered up in our small friendship groups. There were 7 activities altogether.

My favorite activity was the water tower. As for my second favourite it was definitely the flint and steel challenge! I absolutely loved the den building so it would only be fair if that was named my third favourite activity. The others were also amazing so they can all come together as my fourth favourite activities.

Bedtime was fun, because we watched a movie and were able to chat for a few minutes.

In the morning we got up and chatted whilst people woke up.

At the start of the sleepover I was nervous but when we did den building and the water challenge I felt better. We also made smores and cooked our beans or spaghetti. When we woke up we were all tired so everyone stayed in bed.

I really enjoyed the year 4 sleepover! Before it I was a bit nervous and a bit excited but when I went in I was super excited! My favourite team game was the water game where you had to cover holes on the tube and try to get the ball to the top while Mrs Wallsworth was putting water in the tube. We got soaked!
