Today we entered the Year 5&6 Heywood Schools Swimming Gala at Heywood Sports Village. This was a first competition for some of our children, the standard were very high and our children did amazing finishing in 4th place. Well done to our all of our Year 5&6 Swimming Team.

We recently entered the Heywood Schools Year 5&6 Rounder’s tournament at Newhouse Academy. All the children tried their best and had lots of fun, there was some great teamwork shown. We had a mixture of results, well done Year 5&6.

Last week KS2 were introduced to Ultimate Frisbee with a taster session from Sports Cool Bury. All the children really enjoyed their session and learning some new skills.
On Wednesday we had Sports Cool Bury come into school to give the children in reception and KS1 a taster session in Tri-golf. The children really enjoyed their session and learning new skills.
Before half term Year 5&6 took part in a friendly rounders and dodgeball tournament during their PE lesson, practising all the skills and rules they have learnt about rounders and dodgeball over the past few weeks. This week in Reception we had our first ever PE lesson! We visited the magic zoo and pretended to move around like lots of different zoo animals. We stomped around the hall like elephants, slithered like snakes and stretched up tall like a giraffe. We had lots of fun!
Today, KS2 had a sports coach from Lancashire cricket club to teach us a range of cricket skills. Year 6 thoroughly enjoyed it and are really looking forward to next week. Take a look at some of the catching and batting skills we were practising.
This term in PE one of our sports is cricket and we have been lucky enough to receive some coaching. Today was our first lesson and we focussed on holding the bat correctly, footwork and hitting with accuracy. The children thoroughly enjoyed the lesson.
