Today in Science we have been working with magnets and exploring if different objects are magnetic or not. In Forest School, in Year 3, we have created our own shelter using a tarp, rope, pegs and a hammer. The children demonstrated some excellent team work and problem solving skills and enjoyed being creative with their den building. What would your finished shelter look like?

Throughout lower key stage two in Forest School and ECO group, we have been working together to create a bug hotel using old pallets and natural materials. We’re sure the little critters will absolute love their new home! Keep your eyes peeled for new residents.

Today Year 3 have been learning about the importance of remembrance day and why it happens. We completed our 2 minutes silence as a class and then this afternoon we created some art work around poppies.

This week we have been learning about how soil is formed and also exploring which soils are more permeable then others. We discussed the need for a fair test and observed our experiments carefully to conclude our results.

Today, we entered the second round of the KS2 Girls Football Tournament for the Heywood Schools. Today Year 3 have been learning all about the different layers of soil. We even made our own dirt puddings to show the different layers – Yummy Next week we will be finding out how soil is made and then testing different soil types for their properties.

In Science, we have been learning all about fossils. The children have been examining fossils and learning about how they are formed. They also made some of their own fossils.
