I really like this book. It is set in modern day when an old German lady tells her story about World War Two. She talks about her mum working in the zoo and when the bombing started in Dresden they saved the elephant. They found an Canadian RAF pilot who was on the American side but they also saved him because he didnt like the war and she married him. The lady is in a home and tells her nurse and his son the story and gives the young boy the pilots compass that is her treasure. I really enjoyed the story and the detailed pictures in the book. I would recommend reading this book.
