In art, year 5 have designed and created their very own Ancient Egyptian cartouche.

To start with, they learnt their name in hieroglyphics and designed them onto their planning page in preparation for their cartouche.

Then the children kneaded a piece of clay until it was soft and easy to mould. Using a rolling pin, they rolled the clay flat and used the cartouche template to shape the clay, Carefully, they removed the extra clay away from the shape. Finally,  year 5 children marked out their hieroglyphics with clay tools in their template. Then they shaped and cut out their name in hieroglyphics from the extra clay and placed them on their cartouche.

An excellent art project year 5 well done! 🙂🎨 🖌
