Year 3 Roman Mosaics.

This half term we have been learning all about mosaics in our art lessons. We started way back in May where we looked at images of mosaics and researched the type of images included.We found out that many Romans  had mosaics on the floor of their homes.

We then had a go at filling in a picture using a mosaic style. We used a square end of wood and painted this to get the effect.

We then looked at the patterns used in the mosaic art work and explored the idea of symmetry and maze patterns using the computers.

Next up was the design and make stage. The children designed their mosaic which had to have  a border pattern plus an image in the middle.
