Over the next few weeks we will be studying the text “How to wash a woolly mammoth” by Michelle Robinson. Before we start the text, we like to offer the children some experience days to put the text into context (after all, how many of us have ever seen a woolly mammoth)
We began by finding out about woolly mammoths from reading texts and searching the internet. We explored questions such asΒ where and when did they live?, what did they look like? What did they eat? etc and the children created some lovely fact pages.
We then explored instructional writing and made some of our own woolly mammoths out of milk cartons by following a series of steps.
We also created some of our own art work using our drawing skills – these were amazing!
Watch this space for some of our writing next week.
