This half term in science we are learning about rocks and soils. This week, the children have been learning about the 3 types of rocks (sedimentary, metamorphic and igneous) and trying to group rocks into these categories by looking at them closely and following a key by observing their properties.

We also found out about the rock cycle and how rocks are formed. We did this through squeezing different chocolate pieces together to represent sedimentary rock. We then heated this up to represent metamorphic rocks and then cooled this again to show igneous rock formation. We love a good practical lesson in Year 3.
