In science club this week we explored floating and sinking. First, we read the book: Who Sank the Boat? We had a think about which animals sank the boat and why. Then, we filled a box with water and got lots of plastic eggs. We guessed whether the plastic eggs would float or sink in the water. All of our plastic eggs floated on top of the water. We then had a really good idea to fill the eggs with marbles to make the eggs heavier. We all chose a different number of marbles to go inside our eggs. One by one we then placed our eggs into the water. We guessed again whether they were going to float or sink. We discovered that the more marbles we put into the egg, the heavier the egg becomes, therefore the egg sinks to the bottom of the water!
