Today Year 4 discussed what an invertebrate was and where we might find some in our local environment. In pairs we had our clipboards at the ready with our classification key to help us identify what we found. As well as documenting what we found, we also carefully collected specimens that we could observe more closely in the classroom. Woodlice, worms, slugs, snails and beetles have all joined us this afternoon, allowing the children to look closely at the characteristics each has in order to classify it.

Thankfully these have all now been released back into their natural habitat and are not keeping Miss McConnell company in the classroom! Well done Year 4!
