Year 3 investigate friction

Today in science we have been investigating friction. The children planned an experiment to test the effect of friction on a toy car. We looked at the importance of a fair test, we made predictions and then we drew conclusions from our results.

Year 3 make edible soil.

In science, we have been learning all about soil. Today the children looked at the different layers of soil and found out about what is in each layer. We made some dirt puddings to show the different layers.

Year 3 Exploring and grouping rocks

Today our lesson involved investigating how we can group rocks. We explored things such as density, permeability, hardness and erosion in rocks such as Granite, Sandstone, Slate, Limestone, Marble and Basalt. Some great observations Year 3, well done.

Year 3 explore shadows

Today Year 3 have been learning all about shadows. We explored how to create a shadow and also how to increase and decrease the size of shadow by the position of the torch. We then used this knowledge to create our own shadow puppet theatres. Well done Year 3.

Plant Hunting

Today we had a plant hunt in the environmental area. The children enjoyed using their magnifying glass to look at the flower in detail. We were able to identify lots of common flowers.

Year 2 Science Competition

Along with four other schools, Heap Bridge were asked to come up with a science experiment and enter into a competition which was held at Hopwood Primary School.
